NOT New Year’s Resolutions… just what I hope to accomplish…

— bitchin job

— traveling (hopefully a cruise ship job)

— getting involved in lots of volunteer work that I put off all through undergrad

— read more non-fiction

— get my Maya Angelou tattoo

— build my relationship with God

— finish reading the Bible

— make new friends

— make a game plan on how to save the world

— visit friends who moved to different states

— go out every now and then and party like I’m 19 again

— get a drastic hair cut

— rent a bitchin new apartment that was even better than my old one

— take classes in ANYTHING

We’ll see what I’m saying this time next year… oh wait… we’ll all be dead. Oh well.

Conundrums

So basically… I was kind of offered a part-time job at a very Christian school in my area today. I’d be a fool not to take it. But reading through the online application, the statement of faith, and regulations for the teachers I’m very hesitant. Teaching is already so much pressure. You determine whether kids can read, write, even ADD, not to mention the fact that you’re trying to also teach them basic social and study skills as well. But to guide them spiritually?! I don’t feel confident enough to do that quite yet. I don’t think I’m competent enough in that regard to lead children spiritually, and I definitely don’t want to risk “screwing it up” for them.

I guess my question is… what does everything think of church schools?

How to Save the World

Here I am, not even a month out of undergrad, and I’m debating how to begin my mission of saving the world. Ironically, I don’t think it will immediately be in a classroom.

I want to work with ESE kids…which I realized too late.

Also, cruise ship jobs….any thoughts?

Things I've Done This Week

— Applied for four positions in A. County (got rejected by one. Mourned. Felt sorry for myself. Moved on)

— Applied for one position in S. County.

— Applied for teaching certificate ($75! ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME)

— Applied for youth staff position on Royal Caribbean International (crossing my fingers for this one, honestly)

— Finished one half of my Peace Corps application (got to the finances and loans section… too much. Upsetting and distressing)

— Acquired information about tutoring programs in S. County.

— Realized I feel called towards simply working with kids and mentoring them rather than just teaching… trying to figure out what this all means.

What’s next? Applying for Disney China. Then applying for other overseas jobs. Keep you fingers crossed!

Teaching abroad

Saw some TESOL job openings in China (for Disney) and as a college English professor in Costa Rica. Somebody PLEASE tell me to go or not!

All this post-graduation stuff is hard… too many cool opportunities and I’m not sure which is the right one :/

Graduation was short and sweet.

We ate a lovely lunch.

My family makes me feel lonelier than ever.

I have wonderful friends.

The end.
